Default Bot Farming at Bergen Hot Springs

It seems as if an army of bot farming monks is on patrol at Bergen Hot Springs. I thought that loot scaling and all of these new farming nerfs were to prevent this from happening... but I guess not.

Is it just that these bot programmers are smarter than the Anet programmers or what? Seems to me that there should be some way of prevent this from happening.

What's so good at Bergen Hot Springs to farm?

Just because there are a lot of monks there doesn't mean it's all bots. It's heavily farmed because of HM making the chances of getting a max Dead Bow and/or Sephis Axe drop a lot better. It's the same reason why Zehlon Reach is being heavily farmed for Colossal Scimitars.

Yes the loot scaling is to prevent a large amount of money from merchant fodder, which is what bot farming is for, but even still you can get a good amount of money from solo farming. I made 15k, 10 lockpicks, 45 birthday cupcakes, and a req 9 Colossal Scimitar yesterday from farming I didn't have luck outside of Bergen Hot Springs however so my attempts there were shortlived. Maybe I will go back today for some peaceful farming fun.

I hear there's good Dead Bow/Sephis Axe farming there in Hard Mode. I see a lot of monks in Gates of Kryta too. You sure they're bots or just hard core farmers trying to cash in?

I farm at Bergen and I don't run bots, and I'm not a "hardcore farmer". I've farmed outside of bergen since the first Halloween collectors showed up, for Decayed Orr Emblems. And recently, for the event drops (cupcakes, gold eggs etc.). I've gotten several good drops (15^50 dead bow, 15/-5 dead bow, 15^50 sephis axe , 15/-5 sephis axe all max+many other golds). Just because there are several monks farming that area doesn't mean they're bots, I know quite a few people who now farm that area.

bots this bots that... bleh yes they may be bots but i dont realy care that much. bots suck but they dont effect my play experience.

any who on to the subject, like others have said they may not be bots. also bots are not smarter than anet they just act and anet needs to react making them, by definition, always ahead of anet. im sure they will come up with a reasonable way to deal with this soon.

Yes, there are a lot of monks farming there (including myself) but I know bots when I see them. About a dozen or so monks with short, strange names belonging to no guild ALL with the same armor on. When they come back to Bergen, they go right out again along the same exact path. It's like watching an army of ants.

I'm saying this because since I saw them last night, my drops have been horrible and is it being caused by the bots over-farming the area.

He's right. I've been farming there myself, trying to get a nice Sephis Axe or Dead Bow to sell, and I was about to make a post about this, but then I went to the International District... and there are the bots. You can tell because they're all running to the sign for Nebo Terrace, stopping, then running round it and out through the portal, following exactly the same route.

Now while this run may yield a reasonable selection of loot to sell to the merchant for hard cash... I wonder whether they're doing anything with the golds they find? i.e. auto-identifying them and then placing them somewhere where the human operator can check up on them. It would be complicated but I can't understand why the bots would pick this place to farm, above all others.

Why do you automatically assume that everyone there is a bot...Try to stop making assumptions that end up getting innocent players banned by Anets (Great Support Team /sarcasm) Most people there are not bots....and there are actually very few

You are quite wrong.....

The latest update almost forced all the bot accounts to beat the game... Think of it... these huge companies that are selling ebay gold now either can get 1/8th of the money they could get, or get 1/4 if they farm hard mode small team areas.....

I dont buy ebay gold or such, and dont approve of it at all. But, you can judge how easy / hard it is to sell high end items, based on how much the companies are selling their gold for.... and, if you even glanced at any of the companies before (1mil 60 USD) and after (1mil 150 USD) the update , you would see a huge jump in their prices for ingame gold....

As in ecto prices going very low, i feel it is based on the fact that these companies ran out of gold, had stacks of ecto, and sold the ecto to the merchant to stay in business as their bot accounts beat the game....

We had this discussion the other day in a district while playing 9 rings...

There are TONS of these bots now, mainly in the lower team number cities where there is a large amount of enemy right outside, example: Hot springs.... I have seen so so many of them, so many times its just outrageous.....

Sorry if I went on a bit about the bots... but i hate them.... they just cause more problems for real players to farm or do much of anything, and that annoys me....

Notes to identify bots:

1. Almost never have a guild.
2. As they load into city, they take off moving toward exit immediately, as in they dont even look around to see where the exit is.
3. Run into walls on way to exit and slide along wall to exit (this one is funny cause they sometimes get stuck on exit sign or such)
4. Most often in small cities with simple load to exit paths.
5. Almost always Monk/War (lots mo/war bots there cause only 1 campaign needed and lost of 50 bucks when it gets banned is better then 100)

Im not saying all ppl that have these characteristics are bots, im just saying, these are most common situations

Go look at them for yourself and stop being naieve. They come into town, run to the merchant, then run to the zone sign, then go back out. They all follow the exact same path, because thats how the bot programmer sets them up...

Ugh, this again. I had numerous in-game "conversations" (I use that loosely) with uninformed idiots that stand in Bergen and The Astralarium saying all the monks are bots. Even had some people tell me I suck at the game thats why I now use a bot to farm me money. ROFL. Anyway, these are not bots, hell I have spent the better part of the last 4 days in those 2 areas farming cupcakes, Dead bows and Sephis's. Almost everyone I messaged in these zones responded to me and almost no one had those weird, questionable names that most farmer or farmer bots have.

I would also like to add that the camaraderie amongst the farmers was excellent. We were sharing builds, tips and tricks, made my day actually. Props all!

Splatter - This is not granite citadel, I witnessed no "bot behaviour" in those 2 places all weekend. Also, there were a ton of different setups Mo/W, Mo/D, Mo/E, Mo/Me, D/Mo, etc.... Botters use a single proven setup.

You're not looking where we're looking. I don't know about The Astralarium, but go look for yourself in the International District of Bergen. No-one can deny that those are bots.

People may say 'who cares, it doesn't affect me'. Fine then. We're just pointing it out.

I farmed there much of yesterday in normal mode with a mo/d for cupcakes mostly but I was surprised that even though I was in normal I was getting drops from most of the kills. Compared to vermin runs where I'm lucky to get 5 drops from the whole Shreader mob, either the loot scaling works different in different areas or there is a difference between melee (all bunched up) and ranged (spread out) kills when it comes to drop calculations.

Its simple undead take double damage from smite, that means its twice as fast to kill undead, so whats happened is > anet loot scale > bots choose easy mode and kill twice as fast, even thou they could do hard mode just as easy maybe, there is no way to tell really.

why didnt they do that before you may ask ? well theres quite a bit of degen there, i guess bots dont like degeneration but now theres a nice dervish skill called mystic regeneration which means degeneration for a 55 doesnt exist any more.

You can also clear the whole of cursed lands on a 55 monk, if you didnt know.
